GIANI Ice Cream

Rich & Glorious History

It all began in 1956 at Giani-di-Hatti, nestled amidst the bazaars of Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk. It was here that Giani Gurcharan Singh, set up shop upon migrating to Delhi. He started serving his famous rabri-faluda and mango shakes, made with the best quality ingredients, love and dedication. This struck an instant chord with the discerning residents of the walled city and in a short time Giani (“the learned” in Punjabi), became a household name.

In 1970, Giani Gurcharan Singh invited his eldest son Gurbachan Singh, still an undergraduate, to join the business and augment the range with ice cream flavours. The little enterprise’s success over the next three decades was a tribute to the business skills of Shri Gurbachan Singh. It was an era when MP’s and celebrities would visit the shop to taste and soak in the atmosphere.

On the eve of the new millennium, the next generation at Giani Ice Cream decided to grow the family business further. Mr Gurbachan Singh’s son Taranjit Singh decided to continue in the family tradition and expanded the chain of franchise ice cream stores across India under the legacy name, Giani Ice Cream. Today, with over 150 franchised stores across India, Giani Ice Cream has managed to cut across age groups and find universal appeal among ice cream lovers.

Giani Ice Cream felicitously combines the nostalgia of traditional rabri-faluda, chilled mango shakes and desi ghee halwa with the contemporary demand for sundaes, shakes, sorbet, gelatos, and a range of guilt free (no added sugar) ice cream and protein (whey) gelato for the health conscious.

New manufacturing facilities was set up in Manesar, Haryana in 2007. Machinery was imported from the US and Italy to churn creamy ice cream. Over the years, given sufficient demand, capacity has increased manifold due to the strength and popularity of the brand.

Despite all the success, the philosophy behind the business remains simple, the same as that of the founder of the house: ‘A neighbourhood ice cream destination that is synonymous with quality and variety of flavours.’
